QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
What to know before you start
The answers rest on what the pricing page, the reference and the trust pages say. If something differs, that page applies.
What counts as a lookup?
A lookup is one address, company or region per organisation per calendar day, Oslo time. The profile, several sections and the history of the same address on the same day are one lookup. Search, address resolution, access and usage reads are free, and only successful responses count.
What do I get for free?
A free trial with no payment card: 100 counted lookups over 14 days, with the open fields from the demo. Search is free and does not count. Unused trial lookups are not carried into a bought bundle. Trial access is opened after a short request.
What does it cost afterwards?
You can top up a balance and pay per counted lookup, or buy a bundle. The prices are on the pricing page, excluding VAT, and give the same fields either way. Larger volumes and agreement-gated data are agreed with us.
Where does the data come from, and how fresh is it?
Every data section has its own page with its source, fields, geography, update time and caveats. An empty result can be told apart from an unavailable source or a field that needs an agreement. Registry data describes what is recorded, not a building’s condition.
Where is my data stored, and is there a data processing agreement?
Datakilde is hosted in Oslo. What we store about customers, for how long, and which sub-processors handle it is on the data residency and sub-processor pages. API terms and the data processing agreement will be published after legal review; if you need them before then, get in touch.
Can I use Datakilde from ChatGPT, Claude or another AI assistant?
Yes, through an MCP server that gives compatible clients tools for address search, lookups, the catalogue and series. It uses the same API key and grants as the API; agreement-gated fields still need separate approval.
