What this does not say

Quoted verbatim from the section’s warnings field, exactly as the API returns it. They are not translated: a translation would show something other than what your response actually contains.

  • Licence: NLOD 1.0 (Norsk lisens for offentlige data), as stated on the Miljødirektoratet and Geonorge metadata. Attribution: Miljødirektoratet, strategic noise mapping under the EU Environmental Noise Directive (END).
  • These are the calculated contour bands of the EU Environmental Noise Directive, reported by Miljødirektoratet: lden_band is the day-evening-night level and lnight_band the night-time level, in dB, at 4 m above ground, as a band [from, below) such as 55-59 dB or 75+ (the open top class). They are model results for the reference year, not measurements, and not façade levels. They are separate from the T-1442 planning zones (rød/gul) in road_noise_zones, rail_noise_zones and airport_noise_zones, which use other thresholds and a forecast year; the two can differ at the same address. Miljødirektoratet states the maps may not be used for land-use planning.
  • Round and coverage: roads and the major airports are round 4, reference year 2022 (coverage_scope major_roads: roads over 3 million vehicle passages a year, outside and inside agglomerations; agglomeration_roads: all roads in the agglomerations Oslo with neighbours, Bergen, Stavanger with neighbours, Trondheim, Fredrikstad/Sarpsborg and Drammen; major_airports). Railways are round 3 (reported 2017): Miljødirektoratet did not receive rail data for 2022, so rail bands are older than road bands, and are only mapped for major rail and the agglomerations. Industry noise is not published and is not covered at all. Local roads outside the agglomerations, smaller airports and railways under 30 000 trains a year are not mapped.
  • Absence is not a negative finding: no record for a source type means no band at the address in that map, which can be because the level is below the lowest mapped band (50 dB Lden), the address lies outside the mapped network or area, or the source is not mapped. A source_type agglomeration record says the address is inside a mapped agglomeration, where all roads were modelled, so an address there with no agglomeration_roads band was modelled below 50 dB Lden from those roads. An address on a boundary between two bands is served with the higher one.

Fields

7 of 12 fields are value fields — the ones that decide whether a record actually says anything. The rest are context: identifiers, codes and timestamps. Fields marked “open” return values to anonymous callers; the rest require a key.
