What this does not say

Quoted verbatim from the section’s warnings field, exactly as the API returns it. They are not translated: a translation would show something other than what your response actually contains.

  • Per-year averages over the complete years the nearest reporting MET station within 40 km holds (years_covered, first_year..last_year), not a forecast and not this plot's microclimate: station_distance_m and station_elevation_m say how far the station is from the address. Frost days are nights below 0 °C, ice days never reach 0 °C, severe frost is -15 °C or below, summer days reach 20 °C, heating degree days are base 17 °C on the daily mean, heavy-rain days are 20 mm or more. norway_* are medians over all reporting stations, so a hillside station in Finnmark and a coastal one in Rogaland weigh the same. The construction figures come from the same daily record: freeze_thaw_days_per_year counts days that start below zero and end above it, which is what breaks renders, roof tiles and asphalt; frost_index is the deepest run of degree-days below zero in a season (July to June), typical and worst, and is what frost depth is read from; design_temperature_c is the lowest three-day mean, the temperature a heating system is sized for rather than a single cold night; dry_spell_days is the longest run without a millimetre of rain, the fire-risk measure. Snow is precipitation that fell on a day averaging below 1 °C, counted as water: MET's daily feed carries no measured snow depth, so snow_water_mm is millimetres of water, not centimetres of snow, and snow_water_mm_max_season is the worst winter total a roof has carried. The _5y figures are the extremes of the last five years, so they move while the rest are long-run averages.

Fields

34 of 47 fields are value fields — the ones that decide whether a record actually says anything. The rest are context: identifiers, codes and timestamps. Fields marked “open” return values to anonymous callers; the rest require a key.
